Cảm ơn (gam un) – Thank you
Bao nhiêu tiền?(bow nyew tee-en) – How much?
Tạm biệt (tam byet) – Goodbye
Ngon quá! (ngon wah) – So delicious!

The Vietnamese Dong (VND) is the official currency. 1 USD is about 24,000 VND.
Weather
Vietnam’s weather varies by region:
North (Hanoi, Sapa): Hot and rainy in August (25°C–32°C). Pack an umbrella.
Central (Hoi An, Hue): Dry and sunny from January to August. Perfect for beach days.
South (Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta): Warm and humid with occasional showers.

Exploring Vietnam
From the misty mountains of Sapa to the bustling streets of Ho Chi Minh City, every region offers a unique experience. During my 11-day trip, I visited Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi, and Halong Bay, each destination leaving a distinct impression. The country’s rich history, affordable luxury, and ease of travel make it ideal for all types of travelers.
Vietnamese people are warm and curious. Many are eager to practice English, especially in cities. In smaller towns, smiles and gestures bridge the gap. Bargaining is normal in markets, but it’s done with humour.
Vietnamese cuisine is a highlight of any trip. The food is fresh, flavorful, and incredibly diverse. Street food is the heart of Vietnamese dining. I joined locals at tiny plastic stools in Hanoi’s Old Quarter for bowls of pho (noodle soup) and bun cha (grilled pork with noodles).
